Potatoes are delicious. Despite its many health benefits, consuming this starchy legume in excess and on a daily basis can be harmful. Eating potatoes daily can have both positive and negative effects on health. These may depend on factors such as quantity, method of preparation, and overall dietary balance. Here we will know what are the side effects of eating potatoes daily.

    Weight gain

Potatoes are naturally high in carbohydrates and calories. Apart from boiling potatoes, everyone’s favorite is to fry them in oil. Eating things like frying them in oil, adding cheese butter and giving them to children will increase their weight. It is already high in calories, but adding some ingredients to increase it further will increase the body weight.

    Digestive problem

Potato is a starchy vegetable. It can cause digestive problems. Potatoes contain resistant starch. It is not completely broken down and absorbed in the small intestine. So it goes into the large intestine. The fermentation process can produce gas. It can cause bloating, gas and digestive discomfort in some people.

Walking: 5 Common Mistakes You Must Avoid

    Nutritional problem

Potatoes are completely satiating. If we have potatoes in every meal we avoid other vegetables. This is harmful because potatoes are not full of nutrients. And while potatoes are a good source of minerals like vitamin C, potassium and vitamin B, getting enough of these alone can lead to potential nutritional deficiencies.

    Blood pressure may increase

Snacking on fried or salted potato chips can turn them into high-sodium foods. Eating it can increase blood pressure. Increased blood pressure also increases the risk of heart disease. People with high blood pressure should avoid potatoes as much as possible, as should diabetics. Similarly, salty snacks fried in oil should also be avoided.

    Risk of diabetes

People who eat potato daily may face the risk of diabetes later on. A study found that eating potatoes every day is not healthy. Especially when adding fried potato, French fries, etc., it can increase insulin resistance and blood sugar levels, making it more likely to develop type 2 diabetes.

    Stimulates blood sugar levels

Potatoes have a hypoglycemic index. So it increases the blood sugar level rapidly. So it is better to say that diabetic patients should avoid eating that. Similarly, those managing blood sugar levels should avoid potato. Also diabetics should not include mashed or fried potato in their daily diet. People with free diabetes should also not eat potato.

    A chemical associated with cancer

Potatoes are roasted at high temperatures for long periods of time, creating acrylamide. It is associated with cancer. Some foods contain acrylamide due to a chemical reaction that occurs during cooking at high temperatures. Acrylamide is formed when foods like potatoes and grains become soft and brown. This acrylamide is available to the body when potatoes are cooked and eaten at high temperatures every day.

    Nightshade tolerance

With food intolerance or food sensitivities, a person’s body cannot break down certain compounds in food, such as the alkaloids found in nightshades. Food intolerance can affect up to 20% of people. People with this condition may add a small amount of food that they cannot tolerate. This potato is one of those foods. People with this influence are likely to experience inflammation, joint stiffness, sensitivity, etc. when consuming it.

    Finally

Potato is delicious. Snacks can range from chips to French fries with butter as a favorite. But eating it every day is definitely not healthy.
